Christmas Decoration Contest Winners: The Best and Brightest of 2024!

The results are in for the annual 2024 Decorating Contest in Elizabethtown, Lewis and New Russia sponsored by the Elizabethtown Social Center.

Thank you to everyone who hung lights in 2024! Even the single string displays made for pretty viewing as we drove around. And a big shout out to the town of Lewis for the highest per capita amount of sparkle!

This year we are giving out three prizes – The Spirit of Christmas, Most Beautiful and Most Original. For the first time, we judged all three towns together. Each winner gets a $100 gift certificate to the Deer's Head. A big thanks to the Deer’s Head for co-sponsoring the contest!

Before the big reveal, here's a quick peek behind-the-scenes at how we made this very tough decision.

On the evening of December 19, five staff members of the Elizabethtown Social Center piled in a van and meandered through the back roads, alleyways and the highways of Elizabethtown, Lewis and New Russia. We each took careful notes and occasionally photos – hopefully nobody was alarmed by a suspicious looking van lingering outside their house on the evening of December 19th. Over dinner, we each argued the case for our favorites. This year it was not unanimous and took over an hour to reach an agreement. If you put out a beautiful display and didn’t win, know that there was probably a staff member arguing for your house.
